1. 1 Peter 3:17 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

What is the significance of the word “for”?

1 Peter 3:17 (ESV)

17 For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God’s will, than for doing evil.

With that little connective word Peter provides the ground for “your good behavior” (and persevering in doing good) in the face of ridicule.
