Why does Paul call himself an old man?

Philemon 1:9 (ESV)

9 yet for love’s sake I prefer to appeal to you I, Paul, an old man and now a prisoner also for Christ Jesus

Paul refers to himself as an old man because he was an old man. At the time of writing, he would have been between fifty and sixty years of age. In ancient times this was the age of older men.
