Commentary on Psalm 140:6 (Summary)

Psalm 140:6 (ESV)

6 I say to the LORD, You are my God; give ear to the voice of my pleas for mercy, O LORD!

David now addresses the Lord. Firstly, with the confession that the Lord is David’s God: You are my God. And based on that relationship between the Lord and David, he requests that the Lord listen to his pleas. We should she that it is good, when praying, to first submit words of trust and confession, before we make known our pleas to the Lord.
