Commentary on Job 3:25 (Summary)

Job 3:25 (ESV)

25 For the thing that I fear comes upon me, and what I dread befalls me.

God’s favour had been the treasure of Job's life. To lose it was the thing that he feared and dreaded the most (see Job 1:5). Since he knows that his troubles had come from God’s own hand (Job 2:10), he views his situation as proof that God’s pleasure and friendship have departed from him.
