Leviticus 9:16 (ESV)

16 And he presented the burnt offering and offered it according to the rule.

Currid (p. 118) writes, “The purposes of the burnt offering are: first, the acceptance of the offerer by God; secondly, reconciliation between a holy God and an unholy person; and, thirdly, atonement.”
