2 To the saints and faithful brothers in Christ at Colossae: Grace to you and peace from God our Father.

Colossae was located on a major trade route about 193 kilometres east of Ephesus. It was a cosmopolitan city, exposed to diverse cultural and religious movements including Judaism, which had a significant presence in the city.1
