Why is Horeb called the mountain of God?

Exodus 3:1 (ESV)

1 Now Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian, and he led his flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

Horeb is called the mountain of God because the Lord revealed himself there. It is the same mountain as Mount Sinai (Exodus 19:1–25), and Exodus 3:12 also refers to this mountain.
