What is behind the word “unjust”?

1 Peter 2:18 (ESV)

18 Servants, be subject to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the unjust.

The term used here translates a Greek word that means “crooked” (from which we get our English word “scoliosis”). In the presence of a crooked master a slave is not safe (Genesis 39:7), and will not feel safe.
