Commentary on Psalm 29:7–9 (Summary)

Psalm 29:7–9 (ESV)

7 The voice of the LORD flashes forth flames of fire.

The storm now spreads out over the plains of Kadesh. The wilderness shakes before the Lord. His voice can still be heard above the storm. The fact that the voice of the Lord was heard seven times is meaningful. Seven was the symbolic number for the Sinai covenant. The number served as a reminder that it was the Lord speaking, not Baal.
