When did the lame man’s feet and ankles become strong?

Acts 3:7 (ESV)

7 And he took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong.

From this verse it appears as if the man’s feet and ankles became strong only after Peter took him by the right hand and helped him up. Having been crippled from birth and now being more than forty years old, the fact that the man was now able to walk was a miracle.1
