Does the devil have power over the world?

Matthew 4:8–11 (ESV)

8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.

Satan is called the ruler of this world (John 12:31; John 14:30; John 16:11). “World” here means the world that has fallen into sin. He has become the ruler because man chose him. Fortunately, he is a conquered ruler, about to meet his doom.
