What does it mean for Jesus to be Lord and Christ?

Acts 2:36 (ESV)

36 Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.”

Through his life, death, resurrection, and ascension Jesus has been shown to be Israel’s true king, the one in whom all the promises of the Messiah find their fulfillment. He is the Christ to whom all God’s people owe their allegiance.
