1. 1 Thessalonians 2:3 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

What kind of error is in view?

1 Thessalonians 2:3 (ESV)

3 For our appeal does not spring from error or impurity or any attempt to deceive,

The Greek word could refer to either a possible misunderstanding on Paul’s part or deceptiveness. However, the end of the verse mentions deceptiveness, so it is likely that Paul, rather than repeating himself, is addressing a different problem here: he is asserting that he himself was not deceived about the message that he presented.1
