What does the word “appeal” say about Paul’s preaching?

1 Thessalonians 2:3 (ESV)

3 For our appeal does not spring from error or impurity or any attempt to deceive,

Paul’s preaching was not an uninterested presentation of facts, but included an appeal to his hearers to respond to the divine realities of the gospel. This word has the sense of urging the hearers, of pleading earnestly with them to respond to the message.1
