1 Thessalonians 1:9 (ESV)
9For they themselves report concerning us the kind of reception we had among you,and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God,
The apostle here uses standard terminology for religious conversion, which is also found in Acts 9:35, Acts 11:24, Acts 14:15, Acts 15:19, Acts 26:20, 2 Corinthians 3:16, and Galatians 4:9.
