Where was the news heard?

1 Thessalonians 1:8 (ESV)

8 For not only has the word of the Lord sounded forth from you in Macedonia and Achaia, but your faith in God has gone forth everywhere, so that we need not say anything.

The verb used occurs only here in the New Testament. Nevertheless, its meaning is clear: it refers to a sound that spreads out in all directions, thus heard by all. The news of the Thessalonians’ conversion was heard far and wide.
