I think that we can be ecumenical up to a point. I think that we can take common cause, particularly with other believing people when it comes to the Christian moral framework. I think that we...(not the church as an institution, but we as Christian citizens) can find common cause with those who are of different denominations, even those who are of different religions. We can have common cause in the political realm, that is about the point to which we can be cobelligerent, when it comes to social, political, and civil issues. But not as it touches worship and our message. That is where we cannot be ecumenical…Separation at the point of how God is to be worshipped and what we are to say about him cannot be compromised.1
