To be strong and courageous means to be steady, resolute, bold, and unafraid.1 Joshua is about to lead the people of Israel into battle against the nation of Canaan. He must not fear; he must trust the Lord to care for him. When used together, the terms strong and courageous
describe military resolve (2 Samuel 10:12).2
